SkinEthic tissue models are easy-to-use but in order to answer most of our partners questions and prepare them before their first utilization, we organize training sessions and we help them improving testing protocols.
One of the commitments of SkinEthic is to provide a robust and long lasting support to the users. Moreover the leading role of the company on the 3D in vitro world leads us to propose to our new users some training sessions in order to teach them how to handle our tissue models, to show the whole range of possibilities of the models and to focus on their specific requirements. For this purpose we organize all year long – depending on customer availabilities – on demand and customized training sessions held on one day (or more if required).
Trainees perform themselves application of test substances (whatever the form is) on real tissue models. Consequently the first tissue models delivered are directly profitable to their R&D projects.
On May 2nd, 2007, the ESAC (ECVAM Scientific Advisory Committee which role is to make a formal recommendation on the scientific validity of an alternative method by issuing a statement on the applicability of the method for a particular purpose) has stated that the Episkin tissue model has been validated as the only stand alone alternative method to the animal use for skin irritation.
At its 29th meeting, the ECVAM Scientific Advisory Committee (ESAC) unanimously endorsed the following statement “It is concluded that the performance of SkinEthic RHE assay in an external catch up validation study (MTT end point), met the criteria outlined to be considered to have sufficient accuracy and reliability for prediction of R38 skin irritating and no-label (non skin irritating) test substances.”(*)
(*)Statement of the scientific validity of in-vitro tests for skin irritation testing, ECVAM, November, 5th, 2008, officially released December, 3rd, 2008.
This statement reinforces the SkinEthic leadership in tissue engineering with two validated methods: EpiSkin in 2007 and RHE in 2008.
These decisions are in compliance with the 7th Amendment of the European Cosmetic Directive which is going to come in place in March 2009 ( 18 months to go ) and is contemporary to the start of the REACH program applied on 30 000 chemicals since June, 1st, 2007.
SkinEthic is committed to be a key player in this regulatory frame as the company selling Episkin and as a partner for all impacted companies through a large program of support, assistance and education.
SkinEthic tissue models are user friendly and fully ready-to-use. Our training sessions are build up to allow in one hand, any new users to be able to feel comfortable in the 3D screening tool approaches and possibilities and on the other hand, already trained professionals in the field of in vitro alternatives, to be updated on current validated protocols.
By small groups of maximum 4 trainees to maximize the one-to-one interaction, including hands-on training on the validated methods for skin and eye irritation using 3D models. This is your unique opportunity to acquire state of art techniques – including tips and tricks – compliant with the 7th Amendment of the Cosmetics Directive as well as the REACh program part of OECD guidelines.
We recommend you to confirm your participation as soon as possible, first come first serve policy.
