The reconstructed human gingival epithelium shows a comparable profile of biomarkers than in the in vivo situation such as the expression of filaggrin in the ganular cell layers, involucrin, keratin 6, keratin 10, keratin 13 and keratin 16 in the supra basal cell layers and Ki67 (proliferation marker) in the basal cells.
